Chartered February 6, 1967 to encourage the undertaking of programs for educational, recreational, civic and charitable purposes in and around the Village of Lyndonville & Town of Yates.
The LAF Founding Directors were as follows:

Class I Directors – These Directors are automatically on the Board due to their positions within the Lyndonville area.
- President of the Lyndonville Lions Club – Eric Johnson
- Past President of the Lyndonville Lions Club – Harold Suhr
- Superintendent of Lyndonville Central School – Sharon Smith
- Mayor of the Village of Lyndonville – John Belson
- Supervisor of the Town of Yates – James Simon
Ten members elected from the LAF membership-at-large are divided into Class II and Class III Directors.
